Molecular Genetics Laboratory

This laboratory performs services and research using genotyping and sequencing technologies. The main activities are in the field of human and animal genotyping, and sequencing of microbial genomes and metagenomes for complex microbial communities.

Technological equipment

The laboratory is equipped with Illumina Bead Array technology (IScan and HiScan). The HiScan System SQ module supports genome sequencing and genotyping studies, through sequencing by synthesis (SBS) technology. The platform is also equipped with a real-time PCR system substantially capable of supporting the same types of analysis with a lower level of genome coverage and useful for the validation of results or for an approach based on the selection of candidate genes.
